A street in Ica

Heading out into the desert...

The dunes were HUGE!

This is the main walkway down to the oasis

Ooh! Touristy! (say I with camera in hand)

Manuel says that the red building is one of the most expensive hotels in Peru

The water used to come up to just below the railing, so the wall on the left at the bottom would not have been visible

The sand just goes right up... it was really weird how steep it was

In the background you can sort of make out the Andes!

This was a 150 year old wine press

It's still in use

This is where the grape juice comes out and is bottled to ferment for 15 days

They fill this with water and the vapor of the fermented grapes cools and comes out liquid

This is where the grapes whose vapor is cooled go

And the distilled liquor comes out here!

This is the cathedral, which is not currently in use due to earthquate damage (the left tower is damaged, and the other end of the church looked pretty bad

We went to mass here
